Biography in sentences:
Dropped to earth in 1969, I grew up in a Chopin- and Bach-inspired, cognac- and Riesling-friendly household in Mainz-Gonsenheim. I shocked my father early on with my absolute ear, my schoolmates with my musical Mozart parodies that eluded the adults. Supported by great teachers, I then decided professionally for music and not, as my grandfather had wished, for architecture in succession to Albert Speer.
This led me to the Veltlinerlastige Vienna to study, in musicalaffine WGs, in which then music, parties and love to a decadent smoky unity together.Early striving for independence, I found during my studies a job at the dance and vocal studio of the Theater an der Wien, which then led quite organically to conducting at the Raimundtheater with such legendary productions as "Grease", Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" and especially the world premiere of "Dance of the Vampires".
Here, the composer's very sparing preparation came in handy and I quickly arranged, orchestrated and, after an Anglo-Austrian clash of cultures, was appointed Musical Director. At some point I also realized that drinking strength is at least as important for a conductor as, say, percussion technique; and after this realization everything was set for my international career:
Prague, St. Petersburg, Seoul, Stuttgart , Moscow, New York
